2013 Pro Helvetia awarded us with a residency in Cairo/Egypt. The political situation was unstable during that time and we signed the contract on the day when President Mursi resigned. It took until autumn 2014 that we could travel to Egypt for a research travel and plan a new project. And it was in November 2014 that we traveled to Asyut for the first time. We met two archeologists from Asyut, Mahmoud Mohamed Ali and Ali Mahfoz and they enabled us to visit archeological sites in the region. One of those places were the tombs of Meere.
